MEMORIAL SERVICES |
Dear Friends,
It is with great sadness that we are sending out this email to announce memorial services for our dear friend Rick Matulich. If you are learning of Rick's death by way of this email, then I do sincerely apologize. All efforts have been made to contact known friends and family members of Rick's. (I apologize for not BCC'ing everyone but since I do not have everyone's email address I figured you can see who has been emailed and go from there). We are planning two events: a fundraiser and a memorial service and reception.
Fundraiser at Fleetwood
We would like raise funds to cover costs related to Rick's death including but not limited to: cremation, transportation of the ashes, an urn, a proper memorial service and reception to remember our friend, hazard cleaning of the boat (we will have to hire professional people to properly clean the boat), and transportation for his relatives to the memorial service (hereinafter "Rick Matulich Memorial Fund"). Aaron and Jenn, owners of Fleetwood, have generously agreed to host a fundraiser at Fleetwood. They are not charging us for use of their restaurant for the fundraiser, and they are going to donate a percentage of the food and beverage sales to the Rick Matulich Memorial Fund. Therefore, we are inviting you all to stop by Fleetwood this Sunday at 6 PM, enjoy some of their delicious food, and have a diet coke, glass of wine or a cocktail. Again, a percentage of the sales will go towards all the costs. We will also at that time be accepting cash, check, and credit card donations toward the fund. If you write a check then it should be made out to Brandon Maseda because he is collecting the money and doing the official accounting. If you cannot make the fundraiser and want to contribute, then you can mail your check to Brandon Maseda c/o Annette Leon 889 Date St., #309, San Diego, CA 92101.

Memorial Service & Reception
We have tentatively planned a memorial service for Sunday December 13, 2009. Many of you have been asking about his family, and Araceli and Erin have been in touch with them. His family is grateful to all of his friends for organizing the fundraiser and the memorial service. We are working with them to make sure they are included in every aspect of the planning. Right now there are still some logistics we are working out with regards to the exact time and location for the service. As soon as we have those plans secured we will notify everyone.

I hate the fact that we are all coming together because of Rick's passing. I wish with all my heart that we could all be getting together to celebrate someone's birthday, wedding, or just for a casual dinner. Unfortunately, we have to come together on this sad occasion because we want to remember all the good things about Rick, all the reasons why we all loved and appreciated him. If you have a great story about Rick or want to share what you most appreciated about him, please email it to Tara Shah (tara1111@gmail.com) because I am putting together a memorial service program, and I want to include these amazing memories about Rick in it (but keep it clean!).
