It is with a heavy heart that Perry and I (Julie “Snow” Jurancich) deliver this sad news. My dad, James Olin Snow, passed away Monday night, August 30th around 9pm. He finished his errands after driving around for the day. He laid down when he came home and a short time later, paramedics were called to his side. The paramedics performed CPR and Dad regained his heartbeat and pulse. The captain of the SD Fire Dept called me and said he was a real fighter. I told him ‘‘oh, you have no idea”!
Dad was transported to the Emergency Room at Mercy Hospital. Later that evening, after we had our chance to say good-bye,Jim quietly passed away.
A parting thought….. August 30th started as just another day for Jim Snow. As some of you may know, Dad went dove hunting every opening day for the past 57 years. On Monday the 30th, my brother James stopped by Dad’s house to make the final arrangements for the dove hunt on Opening Day (Sept 1st). When James arrived at Dad’s house…he wasn’t there. Dad was out driving around, running errands and doing whatever he pleased. Dad lived his life doing what he wanted right up to the end! James commented that’s as close as it gets to dying with your boots on. Dad, being a rugged farmer from Missouri, would have appreciated that analogy. Dad missed his goal of reaching 100 years by 3 months…but in shooting terms, he made a 99.7—that’s a pretty good average!
Please join us for a time of remembering my Dad, and your friend of many years, on Saturday, September 11th at the SDSSA range at 1pm. We will host the gathering with sandwiches and refreshments and a special “spirit”ual time to honor him. Please RSVP to our email address below so we can get a head count. If you happen to have some pictures or special remembrances, please bring them to share or send them to us at pjurancich@sbcglobal.net and we will be sure to share them with everyone on the 11th. We realize there is a memorial shoot that day but circumstances require our event be held on this date. We look forward to sharing some special time with everyone. |
