Summer 2002 SKEET LEAGUE - 250 Targets

The purpose of this Skeet League is to promote the sport of skeet shooting, to encourage competition, and at the same time have a lot of fun and camaraderie. To promote this purpose team leaders are encouraged to develop teams composed of both registered skeet shooters and shooters who have not yet ventured into registered shooting. Using only the top 4 scores each week and handicap points for lower scoring teams will even the playing field. (See rules)

Teams: Teams will be composed of the Team Leader and 5 other shooters. (4 is the minimum number of shooters - 6 is encouraged, more is acceptable but not encouraged)

Team Leader: The Team Leader will be responsible for communicating with his team and working out the time the team will shoot each week. The Team Leader will also be responsible for working with the Range Office to make sure there is a Field Staff available to pull and score. At the time the team shoots, the Team Leader will deliver the shoot tickets to the Skeet Starter. The Skeet Starter will have the score sheets and assign a puller to the team. After shooting the targets the Skeet Starter will see that the score sheet is taken to the Range Office.

Shoot Rules:

  1. The team is encouraged to shoot together as a team (but this is not required).
  2.
Each weeks shooting must be completed by Sunday afternoon. (The week starts on Wednesday)
  3.
Each team will shoot 2 rounds of regular skeet each week. (Gauge used is optional)
  4. The weeks rounds do not have to be shot consecutively but must be shot in the same week.
  5.
Only the top 4 scores of each round will be counted toward the competition.
  6.
Each week the total scores of each team will be recorded and league points will be given to teams based on the number of league teams participating. (i.e. - if there are 12 teams in the league the top team will get 12 points and the bottom team 1 point)
  7.
Handicap points for the next week will be 80% of the difference between each team's score and the high team's score. This handicap is computed weekly.
  8.
If a team member is going to be unable to shoot during a week, that team member (or the entire team) may shoot a week early, but not late. (Scores and handicaps will be posted at the end of a week and can not be "made up" by shooting late - you can shoot early but not late!)

Cost:

  1.
2 skeet rounds per shooter each week (member or non-members as the case may be) Each week the team will use their "counter cards" to activate the skeet field they are shooting on. Non-members may either "work it out" with a fellow team mate or check in with the range office and get a "counter card" issued to them for the time of the shoot. Non-members do not have to pay "day use fees" on the day they shoot the league and they may have the range office add practice rounds to their "counter card" if they so desire.
  2.
2. $50.00 for each shooter (member or non-members as the case may be) paid to the Range Office by the time the League commences. All of the $50.00 will be returned in prizes for the teams based on their final standings, except for the money that may also be used for participation gifts such as shirts, windbreakers, shell bags, etc. as determined by the Skeet Committee and the "grand finale" party at the end of the league.

League Time Frame: The league will commence the week of July 17, 2002. The five weeks will be [7/17-7/21] [7/24-7/28][7/31-8/4] [skip 8/7- 8/11 because of NSSA skeet shoot] [8/14-8/18] [final week 8/21-8/25] [Grand finale party on 8/28] [Grand Finale party will be big steak dinner at the range!] This will be five weeks competition.
