Summer 2006 TRAP LEAGUE - 350 Targets
Trap League Chairman
Augie Daddi

The purpose of the Trap League is to introduce and promote the sport of clay target shooting, to encourage competition, and at the same time have a lot of fun and camaraderie. To promote this purpose, Team Leaders are encouraged to develop teams composed of both experienced and new shooters. Using only the top 4 scores each week and handicap points for lower scoring teams will even the playing field. (See rules below)

Teams: Teams will be composed of the Team Captain and up to 5 other shooters. (Maximum of 6 shooters per team) (5 is the minimum number of shooters - 6 is optional)

Team Captain:
The Team Captain will be responsible for communicating with his/her team and working out the time the team can shoot each week. The Team Leader will also be responsible for working with the Range Office to make sure there is a Field Staff member available to service and score. The Range Office will provide score sheets and a Field Staff member to the team. After shooting the League targets the Field Staff member submits the score sheet to the Range Office.

I encourage and request that teams organize and sign up with a designated team leader with contact information for all shooters on the team. This will facilitate good and efficient communication with the Trap League Chairman to answer questions and resolve any issues that may arise. Team sign up will be cut off one week prior to the start date to allow time for range and Chair organization.

Shoot Rules:
  1. The team is encouraged to shoot together as a team.
  2. Each weeks shooting must be completed by Sunday afternoon. (The week starts on Wednesday)
  3. Each team will shoot 2 rounds of trap each week. (One round @ 16 yards & one round @ 24 yards) The weeks rounds do not have to be shot consecutively but must be shot in the same week.
  4. The top 4 scores of each round will be counted toward the teams weekly score.
  5. In the first week, team scores will establish the Handicap points for week 2.  Handicap (points) is 80% of the difference between each team's score and the high team's score (rounded). This handicap is computed weekly.
  6. Starting Week 2, the total scores of each team will be recorded and league points will be given to teams based on the number of league teams participating. (i.e. - if there are 9 teams in the league the top team will get 9 points and the bottom team 1 point). Ties divide the total of the points.
  7. If a team member is unable to shoot during a week, that team member (or the entire team) may shoot earlier, but not later. (Scores and handicaps will be posted immediately following the completion of the week's shooting and scores can not be "made up" by shooting late - you can shoot early but not late!)
  8. Scores are normally posted on the Internet and at the Range immediately following the end of the previous shooting week. Any score from the previous week may be questioned by a Team Captain prior to the end of the following week. Once the next week's scores are posted, the scores from the previous week are final.

Cost: League Team Leaders can help the Association by collecting the Awards fees from each Team member and turning the fees collected to the Range office before the League starts.
  1. Shooting Fees: 2 trap rounds per shooter each week (member or non-members as the case may be) Each week the team will use their "counter cards" to activate the field they are shooting on. Non-members may either "work it out" with a fellow team mate or check in with the range office and get a "counter card" issued to them for the time of the shoot. Non-members do not have to pay "day use fees" on the day they shoot the league and they may have the range office add practice rounds to their "counter card" if they so desire.
  2. League Fees: $50 for each shooter on the team. This fee will be paid in full by the time the League commences. All of the money collected will be returned in participation gifts such as shirts, windbreakers, shell bags, etc. and prizes for for each Team/participant based on their final point standings as determined by the Trap League Chair.
